On January 1, 2021, the Road Patrol deputies of the Sheriff’s Office began the body worn camera program. In the fall of 2020, Sheriff Henderson was able to fund the body worn camera program with the approval of the Ontario County Board of Supervisors.
Deputies recently completed training in using the Axon body cameras. Each Road Patrol Deputy, Supervisor and Administrator have been assigned cameras, which will be worn during the course of their duties.
When Sheriff Henderson began the process of funding and choosing a camera system that would best meet the needs of the Sheriff’s Office, his goal was to implement the program by January 1, 2021.
