[ARCHIVED] Office for the Aging Needs Your Help

Information on becoming a volunteer to deliver home cooked meals to the elderly.

Ontario County's Office for the Aging Home Delivered Meals Program is currently experiencing a shortage of volunteer drivers. Home Delivered Meals provide a balanced nutritious meal Monday through Friday to our elderly who are unable to cook for themselves, are isolated, or don’t have supports.

Did you know that for many of our meal recipients, the meal delivery driver is their only social contact for the day? If a meal recipient is not home or fails to answer the door, our program provides a vital safety check.

Volunteers pick up hot meals at a designated site and deliver to seniors on a route. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours of your time. You can deliver one day, a month, a week, or be a substitute driver. We will work with your schedule.

A meal, training, generous mileage compensation, and plenty of welcoming smiles are offered.

The Office for the Aging Home Delivered Meal Program serves seniors throughout Ontario County.  Currently, there is an URGENT NEED for drivers in the Canandaigua and Geneva area. Volunteering is not a full time job, but the “pay” is so rewarding.

For more information, please call  (585) 396-4046 or visit the Ontario County website to view detailed information on our Home Delivered Meals Program.
