Public Health Director Mary Beer and Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Marren (Victor) presented this year's Choose Health Ontario Award to the Partnership for Ontario County. Bonnie Ross, the Partnership's Executive Director accepted the award on March 22nd at the 53rd Annual Safety Awards Dinner sponsored by the Ontario County Safety Council.
Each year, the Ontario County Health Collaborative recognizes an individual or group for outstanding efforts in health and wellness promotion. The 2016 award goes to the Partnership for Ontario County in acknowledgement of their work in the community to reduce heroin, opiate and prescription drug abuse. Highlights of the group’s work in 2015 include sponsorship of numerous drug drop-off events and community forums addressing heroin. Having recently received a grant from the New York State Office for Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, the Partnership will continue to focus on the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs and opiates, particularly in the twelve to twenty-five year old population.
The Ontario County Health Collaborative is comprised of representatives from Ontario County Public Health, Rochester Regional Health, Finger Lakes Health, UR Thompson Health, and other community partners. It offers its thanks and congratulations to the Partnership for Ontario County for its outstanding efforts in health promotion!
