[ARCHIVED] Ontario County is truly Nature’s Health Club

Ontario County is truly Nature’s Health Club. The hiking and biking are top-notch and suit about every skill level. A bonus is that these are among the best ways to see the breathtaking views and diverse terrain of the area.

Take a trip to Naples and see the waterfalls at Grimes Glen. Hiking through Harriet Hollister Spencer State Park high in the hills between Canadice and Honeoye Lakes will provide stunning views of the lake and the Rochester skyline.

Ontario Pathways, along an abandoned railroad line, is a great place to see many of the birds that live in the Finger Lakes. Ganondagan in Victor offers interpreted ethno botanical gardens and the Mary Frances Bluebird Haven is a living classroom dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of the bluebird, New York State’s official bird. Many of these great trails are also multi-use, and in the winter transform into challenging snowshoeing and cross country skiing trails.

With five of the 11 Finger Lakes in Ontario County, a popular activity is biking around the lakes. Every lake offers different inclines and lengths, providing opportunities for bikers of all skill levels.
