Public Works GIS Program

Pic 1Serving as a satellite to the GIS Coordinator's office (see Ontario County GIS Program), the GIS Division within the Public Works Department assists in County Wide GIS efforts as well as produces its own specialized datasets and map products.  GIS Specialist Chris Bowering (585-396-4572) is the point of contact within the Public Works Department.  Daily activities include, but are not limited to, the creation and maintenance of datasets such as bridges, traffic counts, park trails, and sanitary sewer infrastructure. The Public Works Department also takes advantage of aerial imagery, LiDAR, and custom GPS applications to satisfy the mapping needs of county personnel and members of the public alike.

For additional background information on Chris Bowering, his position in Public Works and to view examples of unique maps created for departmental needs, please peruse this informational packet (in .pdf form).
