Public Works GIS Program

Serving as a satellite to the County GIS Coordinator's office (see Ontario County GIS Program), the GIS position within the Public Works Department assists in County Wide GIS efforts as well as produces DPW-specific datasets and map products (both static and web-based mapping).  GIS Specialist Chris Bowering is the point of contact within the Public Works Department.  Daily activities include, amongst many others, the creation and maintenance of datasets such as bridges, culverts, signs, sanitary & storm sewer infrastructure, traffic counts, park trails/amenities and building interior spaces. The Public Works Department also takes advantage of aerial imagery, LiDAR, and custom GPS applications to satisfy the mapping needs of county personnel and members of the public alike.
